Answers and step-by-step fixes from the official Fisher & Paykel manual.
What does the display show?
- F##: A fault has happened. The dishwasher beeps continuously and an F code flashes in the display. You can usually clear it by resetting the machine.
- A1: Water supply fault. The dishwasher cannot get water. Check the supply is turned on.
- A3: Drawer cannot drain. The drain hose or the connection to the drain pipe may be blocked or kinked.
- A6: Spray arm has come loose. The spray arm has loosened or come off its mounting.
- A7: Too much foam detected. The dishwasher has started an auto recovery program because it found excess foam in the drawer.
- A09: Sanitize did not reach temperature. The sanitize cycle did not get hot enough to sanitize the dishes.
- Rinse aid indicator glowing or flashing bright red: Rinse aid is low. There is not enough rinse aid left for the wash.
- Salt indicator red: Water softener salt is low. The salt reservoir needs to be filled.
Common problems
Dishes aren't coming out clean
- Is the spray arm blocked or unable to turn? Make sure nothing is in the way and the spray arm is mounted correctly so it can rotate freely.
- Was the drawer loaded correctly? Check the loading suggestions so items don't block the spray arm or stop water reaching all the dishes.
- Is the filter plate or drain filter blocked? Remove and clean the filter plate and drain filter if they are blocked with food.
- Is detergent in the right compartment? Detergent must go in the large compartment of the dispenser, not elsewhere.
Water is leaking or pooling
- Is the drain hose disconnected from the waste pipe? Reconnect the drain hose securely to the waste pipe.
- Is the water inlet hose connected properly? Check the inlet hose is securely connected.
- Is the rinse aid dispenser plug closed properly? Make sure the plug is closed tight with the hand grip in a vertical position.
- Could it be a different leak? Turn off the water and power supply and call Customer Care or your Authorised Service Centre.
The dishwasher won't start or the drawer won't open
- Is CHILDLOCK turned on? Turn CHILDLOCK off so the drawer unlocks.
- Did the closed drawer auto lock kick in? Press any button and open the drawer within 30 seconds.
- Is the power connected and the drawer firmly closed? Connect the power supply and make sure the drawer is pushed firmly shut.
There's too much foam in the drawer
- Are you using the right kind of detergent? Only use detergent recommended for a dishwasher, not liquid, laundry or hand washing soap.
- Was egg left on the plates? Rinse off excess egg before loading it into the drawer.
- Is the rinse aid setting too high? Lower the rinse aid setting in Preferences.
- Is the rinse aid dispenser plug closed properly? Make sure the plug is closed tight with the hand grip in a vertical position.
Step-by-step guides
Clean the drain filter, filter plate and spray arm
- Remove the base rack (or lift the trap door) to reach the filter and filter plate.
- Twist the drain filter counter-clockwise and lift it out.
- Separate the mesh from the holder by pinching one side only.
- Clean the filter parts under hot soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Click the mesh back onto the holder, lining up the arrows.
- Lift out the filter plate and clean it the same way.
- Lift the spray arm off the impeller, shake it out and rinse it.
- Push the filter plate back in, then refit the spray arm and drain filter.
Reset after an F fault code
- Press power once to stop the beeping, then press again to turn the dishwasher off.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Press power again to turn the dishwasher back on.
- If the fault still shows, note any extra codes, then switch off the power and water supply and contact Customer Care.
Refill the rinse aid
- Turn the plug anticlockwise and remove it.
- Pour rinse aid into the opening without spilling it into the drawer.
- Refit the plug, turning it clockwise until secure.
